Porsche Panamera Turbo, Aston Martin Rapide or Maserati Quattroporte?

March 2nd, 2010

We’re going to play a game here this Tuesday morning.

With three serious players now in the new “sport sedan that looks like a coupe” category, we need to do a thorough examination of which is best, which is the most powerful, and which is best at arousing women.

Okay, that last one isn’t necessarily something we can gauge in an online blog, but one of these cars, as found by a psychologist, has an engine roar that “actually does cause a primeval physiological response” in women.

Interested yet?

I’ll explain the specs and features of each car anonymously, then you pick which you like best based on the descriptions. At the end I’ll tell you which car you picked. Ready?

Car A:

Engine: Hand-built 6.0-liter V12 producing 470 horsepower, with peak power being delivered at 6,000 rpm and 443 lb-ft of peak torque at 5,000 rpm
Acceleration: Zero to 60 in 5.0 seconds
Max speed: 184 mph
Price: Starting at $200,00
Other features: Four-door body style with four individual seats, front engine, rear-wheel drive, and available custom-matched luggage.

Car B:

Engine: 4.8-liter V8 producing 500 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque
Acceleration: Zero to 60 in 4.0 seconds
Max speed: 188 mph
Price: Starting at $132,600
Other features: Four-door hatchback, front engine, all-wheel drive.

Car C:

Engine: 4.7-liter V8 producing 425 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 361 lb-ft of torque
Acceleration: Zero to 60 in 5.1 seconds
Max speed: 174 mph
Price: Starting at $125,750
Other features: Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sedan. A study by a British insurance group in 2008 showed that women who heard the soundtrack of this V8 became aroused.

So what is it friends, car A, B or C? Car A is the most expensive, Car B is the fastest, and Car C is the highest revving.

If you picked Car A:

Aston Martin Rapide

Congratulations! You are in the company of an exclusive few who choose prestige over speed or value. You selected the Aston Martin Rapide.

If you picked Car B:

Porsche Panamera

You appreciate value and love speed, even at the expense of style. You picked the Porsche Panamera Turbo.

If you picked Car C:

Maserati Quattroporte

Prepare to fend off the ladies, you are the proud new owner of a Maserati Quattroporte!

Which of these cars would you pick, assuming you had the cash?

It would be better if there is interior features designed. That will help to choose the best car.

I would have picked the panamera if it had better lines. Put the panamera engine and handling inside the Quatroporte body and you get my vote.

C’mon guys, you know women have nothing to do with these cars. They are the modern equivalent of codpieces. I’ll take the V-12 though. Once you’ve heard one, you won’t be interested in those puny V-8′s.

Quattroporte, without question. A different kind of prestige than the Aston, the Q. really has nothing to do with attracting ladies (even if tgriffith says so); it is the first and best of the sports sedans, has been for years–and cheaper than the others to boot. The guy (or woman) who buys this car is not striving for some kind of ridiculous James Bond image. His purchase says he is a knowledgeable prestige car buyer.

I’ll stick with a Harley. Same effect on the ladies but a lot cheaper.

I’d have to go for the Aston…
