It’s time to get excited: The long-awaited Toyota FT-86 concept, now called the GT-86 (in Europe, at least), has at last made its full reveal.

Pictured here is the final production version of the much-anticipated Toyota sports car. Fortunately, it has retained its concept-car looks and appears ready to take Toyota enthusiasts by storm. But will it capture buyers considering other options?

Perhaps comparing some specs will help clear up that question.

Toyota is like an old man.

“Stodgy” might be a good word to describe the company’s driving dynamics lately. Yes, its rock-solid reliability reputation seems to be intact, but there’s not a lot of spunk left in the ol’ company. Its cars have gained weight. They don’t move very fast. There may be some bloat in certain places.

So what should an aging company do to reignite the feeling of youth?

Grab a bottle of wine, play some Jay Sean music and seduce a young, fun partner. That’s what Toyota did, essentially, with Subaru, and the result of the long courtship between the two is the Toyota FT-86/Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S triplets.

The Frankfurt International Motor Show has done it again.

And by “it” I mean increased my excitement about cars that will soon roam the streets of the United States.

From concepts to production models, many automakers are showing vehicles that have a great shot at coming to these shores soon.

Some of my favorites are below, even if one or two are longshots at ever breathing American air. But that’s the great thing about auto shows: There’s always hope.
