Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti Postponing Automotive Extravagance

Usually, reports of a delayed new Lamborghini would be met with jeers and disappointment. One model, though, could see a delay that will please the passionate Lambo fan-base, if not the overly rich status-happy jet set.

The release of the Urus, Lamborghini’s SUV concept based on the Porsche Cayenne, could be pushed back thanks to the dismal state of the European auto industry.

And if the Urus goes, another controversial SUV goes with it. But at least the super-rich will finally get their 4-door Bugatti, right?

Cars Coming Soon: A Lamborghini Surprise in Geneva

Will we finally meet a Lamborghini SUV? A Raging Bull family sedan? An Aventador roadster?

All are possibilities, and, from what we hear, the Geneva Motor Show in March will finally confirm (or deny) the presence of at least two new Lambo models.

That’s big news, and would double the lineup of the two-car exotic automaker. It shouldn’t be too surprising, though, coming from a brand owned by ultra-ambitious Volkswagen.

How exciting will these two new models be? Let’s explore the options.

Cars Coming Soon: Laser-Powered Mazda, Another New Lamborghini, No Jeep Pickup… Yet

Put the words “laser-powered” in front of anything and, odds are, I’ll be sold on it.

For some reason I’m reminded of a great Steve Martin quote,

I love money. I love everything about it. I bought some pretty good stuff. Got me a $300 pair of socks. Got a fur sink. An electric dog polisher. A gasoline powered turtleneck sweater. And, of course, I bought some dumb stuff, too.

Imagine a laser-powered turtleneck sweater. Infinitely more cool, right?

The same is true for cars. Would you want one powered by a measly spark, or a laser beam?

I’ve been tracking the progress of laser ignition for over two years (here and here), and now, finally, we might have our first real candidate: the next Mazda rotary engine.
