When you’re looking forward to the introduction of a new car model, you scour the web and lap up any new information you can find.

Spy shots provide a glimpse into the future, new official specs or performance numbers from the automaker help wet that whistle, and leaked drawings from owners’ manuals can send expectant fans into a tizzy.

That’s the case with the coming C7 Corvette, a highly anticipated car due for its official debut in just three weeks.

If there are deities in the car world, the Ford Mustang and Ferrari Enzo might be candidates for the top job. Both have reached legendary status, have legions of fans and have spawned many years of devotional writings and devout followers.

Both the Mustang and the Enzo are about to undergo changes and reveal all-new versions, and both have been spotted in cloaked disguises on the streets of their respective countries.

Like hidden sentinels, these gods of all things automotive will surely redefine their categories… as soon as the cloaks come off.

Cars Coming Soon: Jaguar XFR-S, the Cure for the Common AMG

If the word “seductive” could be applied to just one car brand, it would be Jaguar. The sultry curves of a Jag are like no other car on Earth. Add in the ferocious power harbored behind the headlights, and it’s hard not to bend to the Jag’s sweet call.

Like any seductress, though, there are potential drawbacks, the biggest being the question of long-term reliability.

With the new Jaguar XFR-S, Jag hopes to take on the likes of the Audi RS 6 (unavailable in the U.S.), Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and BMW M5.

As great as the XFR-S might be, can it seduce buyers way from the competition?

Cars Coming Soon: BMW i8, as Seen in “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol”

The new Mission Impossible movie isn’t so much an espionage spy thriller as it is a 1-hour-and-50-minute-long car advertisement. No fewer than four models in the BMW stable make an appearance in the film, with the lead role going to the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car. Tom Cruise may get his name in the lights, but BMW is the star.

The product placement has its purpose, of course. Marketing folks at BMW hope movie watchers will want to be like Cruise’s Ethan Hunt character and cruise around town in a Bimmer of their own.

And wouldn’t you know it, the very car Cruise drives in the movie is coming soon to a dealer near you, as the BMW i8.
