Monday Morning Fun: Five Cool Cars (and One Ugly One) from the Geneva Motor Show

Alfa Romeo Giulietta

What better way to start a Monday morning than taking a peek at some of the hottest, sexiest, and coolest cars on the planet? Lucky for us, many of them are gathered at the Geneva Motor Show for the remainder of this week.

Of course, in any gathering of the world’s automobiles, there’s bound to be an ugly one in the bunch, too.

Fair warning: There is a 561-horsepower Lamborghini on this list… think it’s the ugly one?

2010 Lamborghini Gallardo

Oh… this would be fun: 561 horsepower from Lambo’s 5.2-liter V10 in a car that weighs less than a Porsche Boxster. Seriously. And so not ugly!

2011 Audi RS5

2011 Audi RS5

There’s no guarantee that this sweet-looking coupe will come to the States, but maybe if we all wish at the same time….

Here’s why you’d want it here: It’s got a 450-horsepower version of Audi’s 4.2-liter V8 paired with Quattro AWD and killer good looks.

2012 Volkswagen Polo GTI

Volkswagen Polo GTI

I think the GTI is one of the most fun and economical cars on the market today. The Polo GTI, if it comes to America, would only add more fun to the party. In the Euro version, it packs a 178-horsepower turbocharged and supercharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder putting out 184 pound-feet of torque. That’s dang close to the GTI, and the Polo weighs a few hundred pounds less.

2011 Lotus Elise

The Elise got a nose job! That’s the only major change to it, but combined with better fuel economy and an available supercharged four-cylinder, it’s enough to keep me in love.

2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

I’ll keep this simple: I’d drive this car even if it was badged as a Chrysler.

And finally, the one ugly car:

I don’t know what to say, other than hmmm….

Depending on how big a lottery I won, I’d get either the Lamborghini or the Audi. What about you?

  1. Wrap the Lotus Ill take it. The last 2 are the ugly cars but the joke would be reliable where as the alfa with any badge will grind to a standstill in a cloud of steam

  2. Years and years ago I owned a red 1963 Alfa Giulietta spyder, so you know where my sympathies lie. You don’t fall out of love with a car like that.

  3. Audi RS5 just doesn’t do it for me. Yeah, tons of power but the design is not that great. I think the RS4 was/is a much better car. Hope they bring the RS4 back the U.S. market.

  4. If I won a lottery, I’d want to test-drive the Elise and/or the RS5 right away, but the VW Polo is the only one that makes sense to me as a car for regular use.
