Five Cars That Make Us Thankful

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Supercharged

Happy Thanksgiving, fellow CarGurus!

As you enjoy this day of watching football, eating sweet potatoes and carving turkey (or tofurkey if you’re like me), I want you to keep something in mind when you take turns going around the table to express your thanks.

Yes, it’s important to give thanks to family and to express gratitude for the food that fills your plate. But don’t forget to take a few moments and thank the auto gods for the abundance of speed, luxury and performance they’ve bestowed upon this Earth.

Here are some cars I’ll mention today in my annual “giving of the thanks.” What will yours be?

I’m thankful for:

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hemi Hellcat

The Challenger Hellcat gets all the attention, but the 4-door Charger also has the 707-hp 6.2-liter V8. Insane fun for the whole family.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

This car made the Corvette relevant and brought the U.S. supercar raging onto the international scene.

Ford F-150

2015 Ford F-150

Pickups aren’t just utilitarian workhorses anymore, and the F-150 is the pinnacle of the new breed of all-American truck.

Volkswagen Phaeton

2006 Volkswagen Phaeton

Thanksgiving, love it or hate it, is also about finding bargains. There is no greater value on the market today than the Phaeton, which is basically a Bentley wearing a VW costume.

Jaguar F-Type

2015 Jaguar F-type

This is the most beautiful car available today. It’s not practical or economical, but its sound is pure magic. And that 5.0-liter supercharged V8 is just… Wow.

What cars make you thankful? Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. It’s a funny thing about the Corvette: American car fans seem to be divided into those who think it’s awesome and those who think it’s awful. And yet any time GM says they’re coming out with a new Corvette, everyone — lovers and haters alike — has an opinion.

  2. Ford makes the ford raptor svt and I think that’s the nicest truck out there.

  3. I have two notes about this post: (a) GMC/Chevy trucks are the best American trucks, with Dodge a close second – in my opinion anyway – from design, performance and reliability to pure horsepower and fun driving. (b) I think, in addition to the Ram 1500, I would have to add the 4-door Charger as well. Best of breed muscle.
