Cars Coming Soon: Hypercars from McLaren and SSC

SSC Tuatara

SSC Tuatara

By the end of this year two of the fastest, most extreme cars to ever grace the earth will be available to discerning buyers. More accurately, they will begin to be delivered to buyers who ordered them well in advance.

McLaren and SSC (formerly Shelby SuperCars) have released more details about their shiver-inducing machines and the timing of their releases, which should be close enough to stage some pretty intense comparison testing. Instead of racing to 60 miles per hour, though, these cars will be measured by the time it takes to approach 200.

One More for the Road: Last SSC Ultimate Aero Something Special

2013 SSC Ultimate Aero XT

SSC Tuatara a Hot Hit in Dubai

SSC Tuatara

This thing is going to be hot!

SSC’s head honcho, Jerod Shelby, brought the Tuatara to the Dubai Motor Show hoping to secure a distributor for the region and earn some brand recognition. Instead he secured 10 buyers for the $1.3 million super-exotic. Not bad for a little carmaker based in a quiet corner of rural Washington state.

Cars Coming Soon: SSC Tuatara, Ferrari 458 Spider, New Dodge Magnum

Shelby Super Cars Tuatara

We may be in the middle of an epidemic of bad supercar names.

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4.

Pagani Huayra.

And now, the Shelby Super Cars Tuatara. (Twit-ara or too-a-tara, discuss amongst yourselves.)

While the name might be bad, the rest of the latest offering from SSC is absolutely brilliant. And it has but one purpose in life: to take away the Bugatti Veyron’s title for fastest production car in the world.
