People buy sports cars for two reasons:

  1. They want the adrenalin rush only a sports car can provide.
  2. They want to look good in front of friends and members of the opposite sex.

Many of the offerings for 2011 satisfy both requirements with the kind of style that turns heads and the kind of acceleration that’ll pin yours against the headrest.

Rest assured, you’ll only find true sports cars on this list. No Mustangs, no Camaros, and certainly no Honda CR-Zs. Feel free to have your say in the comments section.

Indexing 2+ Million “live” listings a day, CarGurus helps consumers figure out if a car listing is “under” or “over” its real regional market value.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., October 27, 2010 — CarGurus® (http://www.cargurus.com/), a leading online automotive community, announced today that its DealFinder service has just added Regional Pricing to its offering.

Based on a daily analysis of 2+ Million “live” car listings as well as historic pricing models, DealFinder calculates what a car listing is really worth. This analysis includes factors for mileage, car model, car trim and options and then compares that “instant market value” to the seller’s listed asking price for the car. Consumers can then see first-hand if the car in question is above or below its real “instant market value.” Based on a consumer’s search criteria, the resulting car listings are ranked based on which cars offer the best savings (below the real “instant market value”). Consumers can quickly see which listings are “good” or “bad” deals.

How to Find Used Cars with Transferable Warranties

Last updated: Nov 8, 2019 at 1:35PM

Buying a used car can come with a lot of risk. Most used vehicles, except for certified pre-owned cars, are sold as-is and do not include any kind of warranty. If a head gasket blows the day after you sign the deal, sorry Charlie, you’re on the hook for repairs.

Of course, extended warranties or service contracts may sometimes be purchased separately and can be a good investment. Sometimes those warranties are transferable, so if the previous owner bought one, you could inherit it. Since there are so many companies offering those plans, you’ll need to ask the seller if any remaining warranty comes with the car and investigate if it will transfer to you.

But what about the manufacturer’s warranty that comes with new cars? If you can score a late-model car that has any part of a transferable manufacturer’s warranty remaining, you’ve hit the jackpot! So which cars should you look for? Follow the jump to find out!

Best Used Alternatives to Popular New Cars

What if the perfect new car for you isn’t new at all?

As one of your resident CarGurus, people occasionally ask my advice on what new car they should consider. My answer always begins the same: How will you use it?

Whether the intended use is family hauling, boat towing, weekend getaways or street racing, I always have an opinion and a recommendation. From there the discussion filters down through price, reliability, resale and performance of the vehicle in question.

While I’ll never hesitate to recommend a new car, there are usually some perfectly acceptable (and often forgotten) used options available that could save a buyer boatloads of money without much sacrifice.

Since family sedans are always near the top of the best-sellers list, here are five examples of used models that are proving their worth as alternatives to the perennial top sellers, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

The 10 Best Vehicles GM Ever Built

Last updated: Nov 4, 2019 at 2:56PM

Saying General Motors has built a lot of cars is like saying the ocean has a lot of water.

GM was formed in 1908, so putting together a list of the best vehicles it has ever built is a highly subjective look back through the company’s history. A list could easily be split into many categories: best looking, best performing, most reliable, etc.

Instead I’ve decided to take a broad look at what I think are simply the 10 best. My reasoning is below, but feel free to argue or let me know what cars would make your list of the best vehicles GM ever built.
