It’s time to welcome the new and returning students of Boston. All 250,000 of them. In Boston, the first week of September is a very important (and crazy busy) time of year. It’s the beginning of true orientation for new arrivals (and reorientation for returning students) as everyone settles into their new locations and prepares for the year to come. One thing many students may find useful in the Boston area (or anywhere, really) is a car. So why not pick a car that will accommodate the needs of your school, your neighborhood and your future career (if you’re thinking longish-term investments)?

The Best Cars to Drive Every Day
Just driving.
That’s a phrase that should never be uttered, regardless of circumstances. I called a friend yesterday, asked him what he was doing and he said, “Just driving.”
Oh.
That got me thinking. This is a world filled with two types of people: those who love to drive and those who have to drive. If you’re behind the wheel, and the phone rings, I hope you’re the kind of person who doesn’t even notice because you’re so in tune with your car and your driving.
I hope you’re NOT the kind of person who is able to fumble for the phone, turn on Bluetooth, answer and say that you’re “just driving.”
If you’re the kind of person who loves to drive, and has the opportunity to drive to work every day, here are some of the most fun cars you can take on your daily commute.
Our Holiday Wish List
With the exception of last weekend (when Mother Nature decided the first day of winter should be celebrated in flip flops and T-shirts), this year’s holiday season has been a pretty ordinary one: Malls have been packed, colorful lights strung all over, and kids have been hard at work clearing landing strips for a certain jolly old man and his team of reindeer from the North Pole (before the heat melted all the snow, that is).
Just a few weeks ago, we talked about all the cars we couldn’t wait to see in 2014. But what about the cars we can get right now? While 2014’s cars certainly seem amazing, there are many, many cars already out that we’d love to find in our driveways. After much deliberation, we came up with a list of the 10 cars we’d like Santa to put on his sleigh and leave in Harvard Square for us.
The 10 Hottest, Sexiest, Most Influential Roadsters Ever
Few auto designs have withstood the test of time like the roadster. Some of the most iconic cars in history were of the two-seat, open-top variety, from James Dean’s Porsche 550 Spyder to the Ferrari 250 GT Spyder featured in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Below are some of the most influential classic roadsters on Earth, followed by a list of modern versions destined to become classics.
Before we get started, though, I should quickly clarify some things about terminology. A classic roadster, sometimes referred to as a spyder (or spider) provided a truly open-air driving experience. Modern roadster design has evolved to feature conveniences such as a retractable roof and windows. Officially that means they are convertibles, but automakers routinely still use the “spyder” designation to label their roadster offerings.
Let’s get to the list!

Happy 4th of July weekend! The United States of America declared independence from England 234 years ago, not only creating a new country, but inspiring countless innovations based on that same spirit of independence.
About 110 years ago, the seeds of the American auto industry began to sprout. Take a look at a list of defunct American automakers, and you might be surprised by just how many entrepreneurs tried to create new auto brands in the first half of the 20th century.
In honor of their groundbreaking efforts, here are 10 of the most memorable car brands that embodied the American spirit of independence.
