Car shoppers commonly believe they can save money by purchasing the previous year’s model when a new one arrives on dealership lots. We sifted through those 2018 and 2019 models with at least 2,000 vehicles in inventory on CarGurus, calculated the median price of each model year, and found that with certain select models, the opposite is actually true. MINI’s JCW (that’s John Cooper Works) name is older than you might think. Its heritage stretches back to John Cooper, the British racing driver and engineer who not only pioneered the rear-engined layout in single-seat racers, but also figured out that the Issigonis-designed BMC Mini would make a rather good race and rally car. A point that went on to be proved most famously by Paddy Hopkirk’s fabled win in the 1964 Monte Carlo rally.
Of the great many potential pitfalls of a driverless future, the one that’s rarely talked about is motion sickness. Jaguar Land Rover thinks it’s about time this changed; after all, if we don’t need to drive there’s a good chance we’ll instead be surfing the net, reading a book, or playing games. All things that are traditionally linked to motion sickness.
