Dodge Demon Pricing Revealed: $85K and $1 Options

May 25, 2017 by tgriffith

Official pricing for the most maniacal and unhinged production car ever built has officially been released.

Starting MSRP of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, more commonly referred to simply as the Dodge Demon, is $84,995. Add a horsepower boost from 808 to 840, and the price jumps to $84,996.

Yes, in perhaps the best cost-to-horsepower-ratio on the planet, the Demon can gain 32 ponies for just a buck. Continue reading >>>

Chevy Camaro: Better Get Used to Second Place

Camaro versus Mustang.

It’s a rivalry on the same level as Bears versus Lions, Yankees versus Red Sox, and Chicago Deep Dish versus New York pizza.

The Mustang and Camaro have been trading the top sales spot for a number of years now, with the Mustang clearly in the lead for the last three years. It’s the Camaro, though, that gained the most new owners last month.

Sales victories are rare for the Camaro these days, and with a refreshed Mustang on the way for 2018, Chevy might have to get used to second place. Continue reading >>>

It could be a Pink Cadillac or a ‘69 Chevy (with a 396, Fuelie heads, and a Hurst on the floor). Cars have long been associated with independence and the open road, and no car epitomizes newfound freedom quite like your first car. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone at CarGurus is a gearhead—although some certainly fit the description. Our team covers a wide range of responsibilities, from software engineering to business development, and recruiting to… well, somebody has to edit this blog, right? Simply put, if owning a garage filled with Pininfarina was a prerequisite for employment, we’d have a much harder time growing our staff.

The New Nissan Titan: Good, But Will Anyone Notice?

The U.S. auto industry can confidently make the claim that it builds the best full-size trucks in the world.

Some foreign automakers attempt to compete, but so far no other company has come close to matching the reliability, capability, or popularity of the American Big 3.

Simply put, if you want a truck to haul a massive horse trailer or 5th wheel camper, you won’t find anything better equipped for the job than a truck straight out of Detroit.

If, on the other hand, you want a full-size truck for runs to Home Depot and helping friends move couches, Toyota or Nissan would be happy to sell you one.

That’s the impression, anyway. Nissan wants to change the way Americans see its full-size truck so it re-engineered the new Titan to give Detroit a run for its money. So far, though, buyers aren’t taking the bait. Continue reading >>>

With Volvo’s Comeback Complete, What’s Next?

Apr 20, 2017 by tgriffith

Well, they did it.

Written off as a doomed automaker when Ford unloaded it to Geely Automotive in 2010, Volvo has defied the odds and roared back to life while keeping its Swedish charm under Chinese ownership.

That wasn’t supposed to happen.

While execs at Volvo remained confident through the transition that they’d bring the company back to life, we have to take a moment and point out that Saab’s executives once thought the same thing.

Sinking automakers rarely can find the cash—or the buyers—to become relevant again and—like Saab—tend to disappear into the night.

Ask anyone who’s driven a new XC90, though, if Volvo shows any signs of disappearing. Continue reading >>>
