Don’t Wait for Sunday! Here Are the Super Bowl Car Ads

You don’t need to wait for Sunday to see the best part of the Super Bowl. Sure, the Patriots and Falcons will deliver an epic game of back-and-forth offensive warfare, but honestly the best time to get up and use the restroom is just before the next commercial break.

Automakers love to showcase their creative talents and introduce new vehicles and marketing campaigns while virtually everyone in the world is tuned in to the greatest sports show on Earth.

This year, ads from Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, Kia, Honda, Buick, and more have already been released. A common theme this year? Activism.

Click through to see the ads, and be sure to let us know which is your favorite so far. Continue reading >>>

America’s Car of Choice: British?

Jaguar I-Pace

British cars were once known in the United States as being luxurious but notoriously unreliable. Think about the 1990s era Jaguars, any Land Rover sold before 2008, and the exceptional cost of maintaining Aston Martins.

Sales were limited to people who were willing to deal with electrical gremlins and frequent repair visits in exchange for some prestige and exclusivity.

Today the British brands have turned things around and the American car-buying public has taken notice. Or have they? Continue reading >>>

Next week kicks off the 2017 North American International Auto Show. Although much attention has been directed at automakers’ decisions to move away from the traditional auto show format for their new-car debuts, with companies like Chrysler choosing instead to utilize the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the show in Detroit still remains one of the biggest events in the auto world, and CarGurus is excited to report on it this year.

Mazda: The Car to Drive or the Car to Own?

Dec 15, 2016 by tgriffith

2017_mazda_3Think back to 2002, when the all-new 2003 Mazda6 came onto the market and redefined what a sport sedan could be for families. I still remember the first one in my neighborhood. It was bright red, sleek, and looked nothing like the Accord sedans and Dodge minivans that littered the suburban area. The driver would come in to the neighborhood way too fast while us young parents vocally chastised his reckless driving but secretly wanted to be just like him.

The Mazda6 brought some zoom-zoom to the previously bland sedan segment and changed things forever. Now we’re coming up fast on 2017 and the Mazda6 still has that sporty spirit and has spawned a smaller, equally-as-fun Mazda3.

But there’s a problem in zoom-zoom land.

Will Volkswagen’s Atlas Rise?

Nov 3, 2016 by tgriffith

Two interesting things happened this week that must be a crazy coincidence, but make me wonder if Volkswagen and Metallica have some kind of secret marketing deal in place.

First, the legendary metal band released a rocking new single called “Atlas, Rise!” Shortly after, Volkswagen unveiled a new SUV called the Atlas.

Coincidence?

Perhaps.

Both Metallica and Volkswagen are staging a comeback of sorts. The aging band finally seems to have gotten back to its roots, and the German automaker desperately wants to leave its diesel scandal in the past.

Could Atlas save them both?
